PromoLife Hacks: Travel Part2

Hey Rockstars!

Welcome back to the PromoLife Hack series! You've already read PromoLife Hacks #Flights #Travel #Airports Part 1, right? You asked for more and here it is. In the promo game, there is always a desire to save money to retain the money we earn as much as possible. Here are some hacks that may help you! Please keep in mind that some of these hacks may be more beneficial for certain areas than others.

But this edition will focus on securing flights!

As many of us know, promo companies have become more focused on hiring local staff to prevent paying us for traveling expenses. However, we also know that some staffers will still book you if you pay for your own travel expenses. The problem is ... *insert drumroll* ... YOU having to pay for your own travel expenses, especially if the event is around the corner. Here are a few ways to lower your out-of-pocket expenses for travel arrangements.

1. Let a travel agent book your flights.

It's free to book with most travel agents plus they have the inside scoop on pricing. This saves you time and money. They can also handle your hotel stay, too! #BonusPoints. Travel agents advocate for your bookings to meet your expectations. Be make sure your agent understands your needs as a brand ambassador fulfilling a contract gig and to be clear about situations such as cancel policy, points, transfers, etc.

2. Go to the airport and buy your ticket at the desk.

When you purchase your ticket online, other fees are added to your ticket simply because you are purchasing online. So first, go online to check out the pricing, write down those flight numbers, dates, times, and airlines. Take that information to the airport and see what the airlines offer (and write that down). Now compare the prices to make your decision. I know it's inconvenient having to go to the airport. But itsn't it worth it if you end up getting a lower ticket.

3. Use payment installment options.

(Ummm, ignore that the screen on the laptop in the picture above is blank LOL. Did you just look? Ha! It's a stock photo, anyhoo...) Use payment installment services. There are services that will allow you to secure your flight and make payments over time. You may not be able to save money on the flight but this option makes the flight more manageable to pay for as you go. Let's say your money is tied up or the paycheck/deposit from the last event hasn't hit your account yet but you don't want to miss out on the next event opportunity. Consider the option to buy now, pay later. Services such as:

4. 3rd-Party Travel Blog

Many of us have heard of Expedia, Kayak, Priceline or even Google Flights, but those are not the only kinds of travel sites to check out. Travel sites are getting more and more sophisticated and tweaking what we've wished other sites would do. Sites such as:

In Conclusion: It is my hope that those who have not considered traveling for events begin to see how it is possible to do so moving forward. My other hope is that those who already travel find these hacks to be useful.

There are 3 reasons I love this cup holder. It keeps me hands free. There's a drawstring in the cup holder for small cups. It attaches to my luggage anddd there's a pocket to slide my iPad in the back that has a clear touch covering plus a pouch in the middle for my small items. I definitely use this on my carry-on when I travel. Okay, I listed more than 3 reasons, lol. Oh yeah, and it's waterproof, too!

This cell phone holder attaches to airplane trays, kitchen cabinets, suitcase handles and more keeping it versatile. It swivels 360 degrees so you can position it how you would like and can hold the phone vertically or horizontal. The grip is sturdy and is compact for easy travel. Keeps your hands free with your phone remaining accessible.

Sometimes hotels don't have enough electric plugs where you need them! This extension power strip is so clutch, I'm able to plug up my electronics that I need for my events all in one spot vs in randoms places all over my hotel room. The seller says it's also cruise ship compliant; o, on my next trip I'm going to check that out too and get more use of my power strip.
